McLaughlin rejects Ancram comments
Sinn Fein Chairperson Mitchel McLaughlin has rejected comments by Michael Ancram in which he attempted to switch responsibility for re-establishing the peace process onto Republicans.
Mr. McLaughlin said:
``The British government cannot, not will they be allowed to absolve themselves of the primary responsibility for the reinstatement of a credible peace process. John Major holds the key to peace in Ireland and he knows exactly how that can be achieved. He must state in clear and unequivocal terms whether or not he would treat a renewed IRA cessation as he did the last one.''
