British inertia
Statement from Sligo Sinn Fein Alderman, Seán McManus, commenting on his meeting today at the Confidence Building Sub Committee.
Alderman McManus said:
``There is a growing frustration and worry among nationalists across the six counties at the inertia of the British government. There is an understandable expectation that there would have been movement on issues such as political prisoners. And there is a lot of anger at the high levels of British troops and RUC personnel patrolling nationalist areas.
``Many people find it unbelievable that the RUC can get away with an unprovoked attack on Colin Duffy and his family and then charge Colin Duffy with assault. These responses are eroding confidence in the peace process at a time when it needs confidence injected into it.''
