Great Day For People of Derry
Sinn Fein's Mid Ulster MP Martin McGuinness has described the award of the Nobel Peace Prize to John Hume and David Trimble as a ``proud day for the people of Derry'' and a source of ``personal joy for myself as a Derry man and politician.''
Mr. McGuinness said:
``I would like to personally congratulate John Hume on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. It is a proud day for all the people of Derry and as a Derry man and politician myself it is a source of personal joy.
``I would also like to commend David Trimble. The international recognition bestowed on the both men is also a recognition of the great work of many others who made the peace process happen, particularly Gerry Adams.''
