Colin Duffy Released

Statement from six county Chairperson of Sinn Fein, Gearóid O hEara, commenting on the release of Colin Duffy.

Mr. O hEara said:

``Colin Duffy's release confirms the belief that the RUC are conducting a concerted and vindictive campaign against him and his family. He has spent several years in jail on trumped up charges. He is not the only person to be rail roaded into jail on dubious evidence concocted by the RUC.

``The treatment of this man highlights the unfair and unjust judicial system in the six counties. This case goes to the heart of the problem. The law is manipulated by the RUC to suit their ends and the judiciary assist them. It is now time to scrap the Diplock Court system.''
