Sinn Fein Welcomes Bellaghy Agreement
Sinn Fein representative for Mid Ulster, Francie Molloy, has welcomed the agreement reached between the Black Preceptory and the residents of Bellaghy.
Mr Molloy said:
``The example set in Bellaghy shows just what can be achieved when opposing groups accept the need for dialogue to resolve contentious issues.
``I congratulate those who took part in the negotiations in such a constructive and positive manner. I concur with the sentiments expressed by the representative of the Black Preceptory this morning when he said that `it does nobody any harm to talk'.
``It is hoped that this agreement should be used as a rule of thumb for negotiations in all other contentious areas. It is now incumbant on those leaders of the loyal orders planning marches in other contentious areas to start immediate negotiations with the residents groups with a view to finding agreement and accommodation.''
