Parades Commission decision on Ormeau devoid of logic

Sinn Fein South Belfast Councillor Sean Hayes has described tonights Parades Commission ruling on the Apprentice Boys march through the Lower Ormeau as `outrageous and devoid of logic'.

Cllr. Hayes said:

``The decision to allow this march to go ahead without restrictions is a disgrace. It simply does not make any sense.

``The commissions suggestion that real and genuine dialogue took place between the residents and the Apprentice Boys is quite simply untrue. It is clear that the Commission is pandering to the Apprentice Boys and as a consequence nationalist rights are once again being relegated to a second class status.

``Sinn Fein is opposed to this march taking place and is calling on the Commission to reverse its decision. It is beyond belief that the same Commission can prevent a march through the Lower Ormeau one months because no local dialogue has taken place and then allow a similar march to proceed despite the fact that local dialogue still hasn't taken place. Their position is devoid of logic.''
