Dublin/Monaghan bombs inquiry must be made public
What is there to hide?
Dublin Sinn Fein Councillor Seán Crowe has has called for the recommended independent inquiry into the 1974 Dublin/Monaghan bombings to be made public. Councillor Crowe was a member of the Sinn Fein delegation that met the Victims Commission earlier this year.
Councillor Crowe said:
``Today's recommendation from the Victims Commission for an independent inquiry into the Dublin/Monaghan bombings is welcome but the proposal that it be held in private is unacceptable and raises suspicions of a whitewash or cover-up.
``Why is it being held behind closed doors?
``What is there to hide from public scrutiny?
``The time for secrecy over the Dublin/Monaghan bombings must come to an end. Twenty-five years is long enough.''
