Sellafield Doomsday Plant must be closed
Sinn Fein representative for Dublin South West ,Seán Crowe, has called on the British government to ``start acting like any good neighbour and close the potential doomsday nuclear plant at Sellafield.'' His call comes after another ``accident'' at the plant.
Mr Crowe said:
``This week saw another accident in Sellafield Nuclear Plant. Another accident in what must be the most accident prone plant in Europe. The British government should start acting like any good neighbour and close this potential doomsday plant.
``For several decades now people on the east coast of Ireland have been living with the effects of the dumping of massive quantities of radioactive waste into the Irish Sea. The dumping of nuclear waste is criminal and efforts to stop it have so far failed.
``The British government should act in accordance with the wishes of the vast majority of Irish people and increasingly, the call from their own citizens, and close this accident-prone doomsday plant. Anything less is criminal complicity ``
