RUC decision not the answer
Sinn Fein Councillor Pat McGeown responding to the RUC decision to re-route Saturday's Apprentice Boys march away from the Lower Ormeau Road said:
``This decision will not solve this problem - it is not the answer. On the contrary we Mhave seen the RUC apply selective bans before and then change their mind and 09watch as this problem has grown more bitter and divisive.
``The central issue which lies at the heart of this difficult problem of contentious Xparades is the acceptance by the various loyal institutions of the right to consent by the host communities through which they want to march.
``Whether on the Lower Ormeau Road or in Dunloy or Bellaghy or elsewhere, the Tloyal institutions have to enter into dialogue with the local host communities and Rseek their consent to march. There is no other way to resolve this matter.''
