Adams responds to Bruton
Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams responding to remarks today by the Taoiseach John Bruton says that he believes Mr. Bruton has decided that the ``peace process cannot be restored'' and that he has ``closed the door on Sinn Fein''.
Mr. Adams said:
``I have given Mr. Bruton frank, honest and clear responses to the questions he has put to me.
``I am still perplexed as to the rationale behind these questions. I can only form a judgement that he has decided that the peace process cannot be restored.
``I hope this is not the case but if it is then I believe he is making a huge mistake. Regardless of the difficulties which all of us face it is our duty and responsibility to seek to bring about an inclusive peace settlement.
``Despite his protestations to the contrary Mr. Bruton has closed the door on Sinn Fein.
``This is following his own party political instincts and it is not good enough.''
