Crisis demands return of forum
Following a meeting with the Secretariat of the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation last night Sinn Fein has called for a formal resumption of the Body.
Sinn Fein Vice President Pat Doherty said:
``Clearly the work of the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation was constructive and more importantly was a stabilising influence on the peace process in times of crisis. Unlike the Unionist hybrid the Dublin based Forum was inclusive rather than exclusive.
``The closure, in all but name, of that Forum was premature and ill advised when all parties of goodwill are striving to restore the conditions and confidence in which the peace process can be rebuilt.
``This clearly is a time of crisis - the Forum needs to be reconvened immediately.''
