Burke welcomes Adams to Dublin Central
Sinn Fein Councillor Christy Burke this morning welcomed party President Gerry Adams MP to Dublin Central. Mr. Adams began the morning by meeting parents and pupils at St. Mary's Place national schools and then visited the St. Mary's Place Womens Centre .
Speaking on his arrival in the constituency Mr. Adams said:
``I am very glad to have this opportunity to meet with parents and pupils of St. Mary's national schools and to visit the area's Womens Centre.
``The people of the Dorset Street area are to be congratulated for the courageous work that is being undertaken in very difficult circumstances and with little government support.
``Councillor Christy Burke, as a member of Dublin City Council for the past 12 years, has a proven and reliable record as a public representative for this area.
``Christy has repeatedly called for co-ordinated measures to rebuild inner-city communities, as pioneered by the Inter-Agency Drugs Project in the North Inner City. Government must invest in community facilities, training and jobs and support local efforts to provide treatment for addicts and to create a drug free environment''
