McLaughlin confirms meeting with Labour
Sinn Fein Chairperson Mitchel McLaughlin has confirmed that he held a meetign with members of the British Labour Party.
Mr. McLaughlin said:
``We had a frank exchange in which I strongly criticised the slavish manner in which the British Labour Party leadership follows along on the coat tails of John Major on the issue of peace in Ireland.
``I argued for a policy position more in keeping with Labour's own policy on Ireland.
``I also spelt out the great sense of anger there is among Irish nationalists at the failure of the Labour party to provide a positive British alternative to the unionist policies of John Major.'' ENDS
