Progressive Democrats Plc is Bankrupt
Responding to the weekend announcement by the Progressive Democrats that they cannot find a candidate for the European elections, Sinn Fein's European elections candidate for Dublin, Seán Crowe, said:
``If the PDs were a company they would be declared bankrupt. They are politically bankrupt and in terminal decline.''
Mr Crowe, who challenged PD leader Mary Harney in the last general election and is the Sinn Fein candidate for Tallaght South in the June local elections, said:
``Mary Harney is deserting Dublin South-West as its TD and now she cannot find a credible candidate to stand anywhere in the European elections, not even in Dublin.
``Even the NATO-powered Des O'Malley won't throw his hat in the ring.
``It's high time the PDs stopped papering over the cracks and misleading. The only way they can stave off closure is by merging with Fianna Fáil - with or without Des O'Malley.''
