Report into RUC threats against Rosemary Nelson must be made public
Sinn Fein spokesperson on Policing and Justice Bairbre de Brun, has called on the British Secretary of State Mo Mowlam to ensure that the full report of the investigation into threats made by the RUC against Rosemary Nelson to be made public.
Ms de Brun said:
``I have written today to Mo Mowlam, expressing my deep concern at the murder of human rights lawyer Rosemary Nelson and in particular at the threats made to her person by members of the RUC.
``In my letter I stressed the need for the full report of the investigation into RUC threats against Rosemary Nelson, which has now been completed by Commander Mulvihil of the London Metropolitan Police to be made public.
``In the light of these repeated threats and of the fact that even the ICPC felt the RUC could nolonger be entrusted with that investigation, the RUC should be in no way involved in the investigation into Rosemary Nelson's murder. I call for a totally independent international inquiry to be established.
``It is of the utmost importance that there be complete transparency in all of these matters.''
