Sinn Fein welcomes Dromore Agreement

Sinn Fein Vice President, Pat Doherty has welcomed the announcement that the Orange Order and representatives of the residents of Dromore, Co. Tyrone have come to an agreement concerning contentious marches in the village.

Mr. Doherty said:

``I welcome this development in the parades issue. Sinn Fein has always been of the opinion that dialogue between the Loyal Orders and residents ins the key to resolving these disputes. This example of Tyrone Orangemen engaging in discussion with local residents and their representatives should be emulated by the Orange Order and other Loyal Institutions throughout the Six Counties.

``I hope that this development signals the beginning of a more sensible approach by the organisers of contentious parades. If it does, then I believe it will contribute greatly to the easing of tensions as we approach the marching season.'' ENDS
