Doherty in call for passport office
Statement from Sinn Fein Vice President and Assembly member for West Tyrone Pat Doherty calling on the Dublin government to open an office in the six counties to facilitate applicants for Irish passports.
Mr. Doherty said:
``Thousands of Irish citizens living in the six counties find it difficult to complete the process of applying for their passports. I am calling on the Dublin government to open a passport office in the six counties to make the process of obtaining a passport easier.
``People who do not have access to a car find the journey to the passport office in Dublin prohibitive. The Irish government have a responsibility to their citizens living in the six counties to provide an accessible system applying for a passport.
``The Irish government should now open a passport office in the six counties without delay.''
