Agreement must be implemented in full
Sinn Fein North Belfast Assembly representative Gerry Kelly responding to remarks by UUP leader David Trimble and British Secretary of State Mo Mowlam said:
``It is widely acknowledged that there wouldn't be a peace press but for the successive initiatives taken by nationalists and republicans.
``The essential compromise reached after three decades of conflict and 70 years of partition, was achieved last April with the Good Friday Agreement. It cannot be renegotiated, parked or reviewed.
``The reality now is that Sinn Fein has no more room to manoeuvre. Progress depends on the full implementation of the compromise contained in the Good Friday Agreement.
``The onus at this difficult time rests squarely on the shoulders of the two governments, but especially the British government. The governments have the responsibility to stick with the Agreement, to push ahead with its full implementation, while insisting that all of the parties fulfil their commitments.''
