British arrogance and contempt displayed once more in meeting between McBride Family and British Armed Forces Minister
North Belfast Assembly Member, Gerry Kelly commenting on the meeting between the British Armed Services Minister, Doug Henderson and the parents of Peter McBride said:
``It seems that once more British arrogance and contempt for Irish life was the order of the day at the meeting between the parents of Peter McBride and British Armed Forces Minister, Doug Henderson.
``Ever since the two Guardsmen summarily executed Peter McBride, his family have been treated with contempt by successive British administrators.
``Mr. Henderson's assertion that he met with the McBride's because he `wanted to provide them with an opportunity for them to explain their concerns to me personally' is both patronising and insulting.
``These two Guardsmen did not `tragically kill' Peter McBride. They intentionally shot him in the back in cold blood after he had been searched and found not to be in possession of anything that could have posed any danger to his killers.
``The only ones to come out of this meeting today with their pride and integrity intact was the McBride family.''
