Open private hospitals to priority cases
DUblin North Inner City Sinn Fein Councillor Christy Burke has called for the opening of private hospitals to usage by the general public in priority cases.
Mr. Burke said:
``The shortage in hospital beds and consequuently worrying rises in waiting lists are becoming issues of increasing concern to city residents. It is an entirely disusting and eletist practice that private hospitals such as the Mater Private and Blackrock Clinic are denying priority patients medical assistance.''
``In such literally life-or-death cases and where patients are forced to endure the emotional and physical agony of long waits for medical help, it is an offence to the Irish public that the ill are descriminated against due to their poverty, most worryingly in life threatening situations.''
