Sinn Fein delegation to meet with Combat Poverty
Sinn Fein's Dublin candidate in the forthcoming EU elections, Seán Crowe, will tomorrow lead a party delegation to a briefing session with the Combat Poverty Agency.
Mr. Crowe said:
``People throughout Dublin are becoming increasingly concerned about poverty issues and the growing inequalities in Irish Society today.
``Sinn Fein welcomes this opportunity to meet with the Combat Poverty Agency, who have over recent years done excellent work in highlighting the growing levels of deprivation and marginalisation in Irish society. Tomorrow we will discuss their work and our concerns about the growing levels of poverty and deprivation in urban and rural areas despite the record growth in economic wealth accumulated in the 26 county economy.
``We will be raising the issues of educational disadvantage, the housing crisis, the National Anti-Poverty Strategy (NAPS), the December budget, views on basic income as well as a discussion on the effectiveness of poverty measurement surveys.''
