Crowe - marriage reform proposals must address same sex marriages

Sinn Fein TD Séan Crowe today welcomed reports that there is to be a major shake up of marriage law in this state and called for the issue of same sex marriages to be addressed in the proposals.    Deputy Crowe said:   ``Reports that there is to be a major shake up of marriage law in this state are very welcome.  The interdepartmental group on marriage reform should also use this opportunity to address the issue of same sex marriage.

``At the heart of Sinn Fein's political philosophy is the issue of equality.  Everyone, has the right to be protected against any direct or indirect discrimination. Men and women of marriageable age, including those of the same sex, have the equal right to marry and to found a family.''
