Ferris Exposes Insurance Scam

Sinn Fein TD for Kerry North Martin Ferris has secured evidence that insurance companies operating in the county are in breach of guidelines regarding the soliciting of collateral business. Following on complaints Deputy Ferris tabled a Dáil question to the Tanaiste and Minister for the Enterprise Mary Harney who informed him that companies who try to insist that persons looking for car insurance also insure their homes with that company are in breach of a recommendation from the Motor Insurance Advisory Board. Deputy Ferris said;

It is unacceptable that people who are looking for car insurance are being refused on the grounds that they will not take out further insurance on their home with that company. As the Minister has indicated this is in blatant breach of the regulations and anyone who has been made such an offer such report the case to the Competition Authority.
