Ferris Slams Imposition Of BSE Charges On Farmers
Sinn Fein Spokesperson on Agriculture and Rural Development, Martin Ferris TD, has strongly condemned the decision to impose charges connected with the testing and disposal of BSE infected animals on farmers. According to the Department of Agriculture these charges will come into effect at the beginning of April. Deputy Ferris said;
``Coming as it does at a time when farmers are already enduring a severe income crisis, and are faced with falling beef prices, these extra charges will put an added burden on many hard pressed households. I am calling on Minister Walsh to re-examine this decision and will be raising the issue in the Dáil.''
