McLaughlin Responds To Ahern Comments

Responding to comments made by An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern in the Dáil this evening, Sinn Fein Chairperson Mitchel McLaughlin said:

``The IRA's statement of April 13 and Gerry Adams subsequent commentary on it provided clarity on future IRA intentions. The two governments rejected this.

``The Taoiseach's comments this evening however acknowledge that they now have clarity. On that basis the process should move forward and the elections should be rescheduled for June.''
