Crowe - `Government in Disarray' over Tallaght IT
Sinn Fein spokesperson on Education Seán Crowe has called on the Minister for Finance to pay striking technicians at Tallaght Institute of Technology the 7% pay rise agreed between the workers and the Department of Education.
The Dublin South-West TD said: ``Tallaght IT has basically ground to a halt today as a result of this strike action. Computer facilities are not working, exam results cannot be processed and work right across the campus is being made impossible by the refusal of the government to live up to its side of the deal and deliver the promised wage increase.
``The government is clearly in disarray over this, with one Department promising a 7% pay rise and another Department refusing to pay it. It is nothing short of a farce that there is this level of disorganisation at the highest levels of government. The simple truth is that the government has made a commitment to these workers and it is time to deliver. The staff and students of Tallaght IT are the ones who are suffering.''
