Voters urged to check they're registered before Monday deadline
Sinn Fein has urged people to make a last-minute check to make sure they are registered to vote before the Supplementary Register of Electors closes on Monday.
The Sinn Fein candidate for Tallaght and Dublin South-West, Councillor Seán Crowe, said that up to one hundred thousand people could have been left without a vote.
Voting registers can be checked at libraries or Garda stations.
Councillor Crowe said:
"The fact that the Government haven't bothered to carry out any effective voter registration campaign shows how little they really care about giving more power back to the people. That - on top of the Government's failure on public services, public safety, schools, health, transport and housing - should be an incentive to use the right to vote and make our voices heard on polling day."
