Forum must defend rights of all Irish citizens

Sinn Fein TD Seán Crowe speaking in advance of tomorrow's meeting of the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation said that "central to Sinn Fein's contribution will be our views on how the Forum can play a crucial role in bringing forward the issue of Irish unity and on how we can work to persuade unionists that such a political reality is in their best interests." He also said that "Sinn Fein will call on those in attendance to defend the rights and entitlements of all Irish citizens, including residents of North Belfast, Short Strand and Larne.

"In relation to the current crisis in the peace process, Sinn Fein will argue for the institutions to be re-instated and the British government to honour their commitments in relation to the Good Friday Agreement. We will also call on the Irish government to provide for northern representation in the Oireachtas."ENDS

The Sinn Fein delegation to the Forum is Gerry Adams MP, Bairbre de Brun MLA, Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin TD, Seán Crowe TD and Rita O'Hare, Ard Chomhairle member.
