McDowell should concentrate on crime and end publicity driven campaign against Asylum Seekers and Travellers
Sinn Fein spokesperson on Justice Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has called on the Justice Minister, Michael McDowell, to end his campaign against asylum seekers and travellers and concentrate on tackling crime. Deputy Ó Snodaigh was speaking after the publication of crime figures, which indicated that the crime rate for last year was up by 18 per cent.
Deputy Ó Snodaigh said:
``I believe that the Minister for Justice would be better employed committing Garda resources to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour rather than deploying large numbers of Gardaí on publicity driven raids against immigrants, asylum seekers and travellers.''
