Sinn Fein announces delegation to attend Forum for Peace and Reconciliation
Sinn Fein TD and former party secretary to the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation Seán Crowe this morning announced the party's delegation to attend the Forum for Peace and Reconciliation which is to take place in Dublin Castle on Wednesday.
Deputy Crowe said:
``The delegation will be led by Sinn Fein President Mr. Gerry Adams MP. He will be accompanied by former Six County Health Minister Bairbre de Brun and Dáil Group Leader Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin.
``While the main focus at this time is on the multi-party negotiations in Belfast and the need for the two governments to push ahead with the full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement there is an important role that can and must be played by all political parties and society in general across the island.
``At a time when there were no talks the Forum played an important role in facilitating much needed political dialogue and gave a voice to communities and groups who had been marginalised for far too long. And over the year and a half of the Forum in 1994/1995 there was a great deal of common ground and commonality of analysis between those who attended. In the years since then there have been many developments. The most important of which is the Good Friday Agreement. We now need to look beyond the Forum and find creative ways of galvanising public support for the Agreement.''
