An Post logjam - thousands of letters will be undelivered in run up to Christmas
Meath Sinn Fein Councillor Joe Reilly is contacting An Post this afternoon after concerns were raised that postal delivery services across the state are now five days behind schedule and thousands of letters will remain unprocessed and undelivered until the New Year. Cllr. Reilly has called on An Post to explain why this situation has arisen. He said:
An Post is failing its customers at the most critical time of year. With less than a week to Christmas it now appears that thousands of the most disadvantaged in our society could be left penniless because An Post are unable to deliver items such as social welfare checks on time. Also thousands of families will not receive Christmas cards from loved ones at home and abroad and businesses could experience difficulties in receiving payments.
An Post must explain why this situation has arisen and how the difficulties being experienced in Letter Forwarding Offices are to be resolved.
