Kelly dismisses unfounded allegations from anonymous British sources
Sinn Fein MLA for North Belfast Gerry Kelly speaking from the Short Strand tonight where he is attending a rally calling for the lifting of the siege of the local community dismissed unfounded allegations from anonymous British securocrats. Mr. Kelly said:
"We have heard all of these unfounded allegations repeated time and time again. There is nothing new in them. They all come from the same anonymous British source who has been briefing journalists for almost a year now. And I don't intend to add anything to this speculation.
"It is clear that the needs of the peace process are not served by this type of media sensationalism. My concern is about what is happening in places like the Short Strand, what is happening in the peace processs and the need for all political leaders to use their influence to make sure that this summer passes off peacefully.
"I am also concerned about the three Irish men in Colombia. and I would like to see them brought home to their families as soon as possible. How anyone believes that they could receive for a fair hearing in the face of this sort of gutter journalism is beyond me."
