Sinn Fein Councillors back Christy Burke for Mayor
Sinn Fein Councillors Nicky Kehoe, Larry O'Toole, and Dessie Ellis, today wrote to each member of Dublin Corporation urging support for their colleague Christy Burke in the election for Mayor which will take place on Monday 2nd July.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Cllr. Nicky Kehoe said:
``Sinn Fein believe that Dublin needs a Mayor that will be a working leader, not a ceremonial figurehead. Christy Burke can fulfil that role.
``As a Sinn Fein Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Christy Burke would be pivotal in bringing about change. He would prioritise issues of housing, transport and the environment to ensure a cleaner, greener and freer-moving city which can provide homes for all its people. He would ensure more openness in council business and would oppose privatisation of essential services.
``It is for these reasons that we are urging all members of Dublin Corporation, regardless of their political affiliation, to put the interests of the people of Dublin first and support Christy Burke for Mayor.''
