Ahern's Ard Fheis Address

Pre-election window dressing to cover Cabinet's failure

Dublin South-West Dáil candidate Sinn Fein Councillor Seán Crowe said that Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis speech was ``pre-election window dressing to gloss over his cabinet's failure to use the benefits of the Celtic Tiger to rectify the chaos in health, housing, education, waste management and traffic gridlock.''

The Sinn Fin spokesperson also hit back at Health Minister Micheál Martin's attack on critics of the health service crisis.

Cllr Crowe said: ``In calling them `clueless', the Health Minister was insulting the patients and their families, hard-pressed nursing staff and even some Fianna Fáil delegates who echoed public concerns about a two-tier health system in their speeches to the Ard Fheis.''
