Adams to unveil Hunger Strike monument during Cuban visit
Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP will make a three-day visit to Cuba next week to unveil a plaque in memory of the 1981 Hunger Strikers. This follows a visit to South Africa in October when he unveiled a monument on Robben Island.
Mr. Adams will depart for Cuba on Sunday 16th December and return to Ireland the following Thursday. Accompanying him on the trip will be North Belfast MLA Gerry Kelly and Director of Sinn Fein's International Department Joan O'Connor.
In addition to unveiling the 1981 monument the delegation will meet with President Fidel Castro and representatives of the Cuban Government. They will also visit the Juan Manuel Marquez Paediatric Hospital and visit the Latin- American School of Medical Sciences.
