Jamie Sinnott Case: Government should be ashamed of themselves
Sinn Féin Councillor Martin Ferris has expressed his deep anger at today's Supreme Court judgement in the Jamie Sinnott case and said that the government should be deeply ashamed at its handling of the entire matter.
Cllr. Ferris said:
"The decision of the government to drag the Sinnott family through the courts regarding the issue of the provision of free primary education for their son Jamie is disgraceful. They should be ashamed of itself for fighting this case. Decent people across the state will be truly gutted with their action.
Rather than fighting legal battles with the families of those with disabilities, the state has a moral responsibility to support and assist them. It is a disgrace that they have chossen not to do so.
"I would like to commend the Sinnott family in their couragous fight against a government that seems more interested in banning Opinion Polls than in the well-being of those it is supposed to represent."
