Dublin Bus to meet community leaders today over attacks on Tallaght routes
Return of bus conductors should be considered
Tallaght Councillor Seán Crowe will be available to talk to the media (at 087 6800 122) on this afternoon's meeting between Dublin Bus, South Dublin County Council, the Garda and community representatives to discuss the spate of attacks on buses which led to the withdrawal of night-time services on routes beyond The Square from last night (Wednesday).
The meeting begins at 3pm in the South Dublin County Council offices, Tallaght, and is expected to last for an hour to 90 minutes.
Cllr Crowe said: ``Consideration should be given to bringing back conductors to provide support for drivers and halt the vandalism on buses that is threatening the safety of bus crews, passengers, pedestrians and motorists.
``The withdrawal of services on Wednesday night seriously inconvenienced people who had to travel beyond The Square, particularly in the hail and bitterly cold weather we are suffering. Today's meeting needs to address the safety concerns of everyone in Tallaght before someone is seriously injured or even killed.'' ENDS
