Sinn Fein second most popular party among second-level students - National Youth Council survey
Sinn Fein said that it was naturally pleased at today's publication of the National Youth Council survey of second-level students which gave Sinn Fein the second highest level of party support, ahead of Fine Gael, Labour and the Greens.
But Sinn Fein's South Dublin Central representative, Aengus Ó Snodaigh, said the survey has some worrying results, particularly the tribunal revelations of corruption and sleaze and the political system. Speaking at the launch of the report in Dublin, he said: ``The survey shows that nearly half those polled said they would not vote because they believe politics is corrupt that they believe the political system is not relevant to them.
Sinn Fein secured the support of 24 per cent of students surveyed compared to Fianna Fáil 34 per cent, Fine Gael 14 per cent, Independents at 11.5 per cent, Labour at 6.5 per cent, and the Greens at 5 per cent.
