Sinn Fein TD, Mayor and County Council Chair visit Castlerea Five

Sinn Fein elected representatives Cavan/Monaghan TD Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin; the Mayor of Sligo, Seán MacManus; and Leitrim County Council Cathaoirleach Mícheál Colreavy called for the release of the Castlerea Five whom they met on a visit to Castlerea Prison today.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting elected representatives, Deputy Ó Caoláin said:

``Under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement these republican prisoners clearly qualify for release and should have been released by now.

``The release of prisoners is a crucial part of the Good Friday Agreement. It has been a difficult process for all those bereaved or injured in the conflict, including the family of Garda Jerry McCabe. But there can be no hierarchy of victims or hierarchy of prisoners. ALL those who qualify must be released, including the Castlerea Five.''
