Dublin City Council asked to honour bus crash heroes
Dublin City Council is being asked to officially honour the homeless man and the Greek national who helped rescue the trapped driver of the CIE Tours coach which plunged head-first into the River Liffey a week ago (last Sunday week, 3 December).
Tom Paget, a qualified life-saver who is homeless, and Dimitrios Paraskevakis, climbed though the back window of the bus and pulled the driver to safety.
Dublin City Councillor Nicky Kehoe has tabled a motion calling on the city to formally recognise the pair's heroism.
Councillor Kehoe said:
``Tom Paget and Dimitrios Paraskevakis risked their lives to rescue a total stranger in a life-threatening situation. It is the sort of selfless courage that deserves official recognition.''
