Nationalists need to be vigilant after latest killing
Sinn Fein Assembly member for North Belfast Gerry Kelly MLA has urged nationalists in the area to be vigilant after last night's killing of a taxi driver.
Mr Kelly said:
``The exact circumstances of last night's killing are still unclear. However, it is my view that republicans were not involved and that the attack was not sectarian. Nationalists and republicans clearly need to remain vigilant as the killing took place at an interface area and close to the Lower Shankill estate which, of course, has been the centre of loyalist feuding in recent months.
``There had been an obvious decrease in tensions in the area in recent weeks and there is now a real fear that this latest killing could spark another cycle of violence which affects the entire community, whether unionist or nationalist.''
