Adams backs Finucane Inquiry Call
Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams MP has backed calls by the family of murdered human rights solicitor Pat Finucane for an independent judicial inquiry into his death.
Mr. Adams said:
``The fact that British military intelligence colluded with loyalist death squads in the murder of Pat Finucane is widely known. However there are still those in the British establishment who continue to try and prevent information in relation to this case becoming public.
``Tony Blair, being the British Prime Minister, has under his control all of the unanswered questions relating to Pat Finucane's murder and yet he has continued to ignore concerns raised by the Dublin government, the UN, US Congress and many other bodies.
``The British Prime Minister has a responsibility to the Finucane family. The full facts can only be established through an independent judicial inquiry. The responsibility for this lies at the door of the British Prime Minister.''
