Drumcree protests: Orange Order should accept principle of dialogue
Sinn Fein North Belfast Assembly member Gerry Kelly has called on the Orange Order to call a halt to all demonstrations and accept the principle of dialogue.
Mr Kelly said:
``After a week of mayhem and civil unrest across the Six Counties, and the public killing of a man in Larne, it is time the Orange Order called a halt to all demonstrations. The Twelfth demonstrations will be over today but we are left with a legacy of widespread anger and despair at the tactics used by the Orange Order.
``This should be the last day that the people of the Six Counties are subjected to mass intimidation and terror in their own neighbourhoods and beyond because the Orange Order can't take their anti-Catholic marches through Catholic areas.
``Let the Orange Order accept the principle of dialogue as the basis on which to proceed, not intimidation.''
