Orange Order should talk to residents - SF chairperson
Sinn Fein Chairperson Mitchel McLaughlin today urged the Orange Order to engage in dialogue with residents' groups to resolve the issue of Drumcree and the handful of contentious parades among more than 3,000 (three thousand) held during the loyalist marching season.
The Assembly member for Derry said that controversial marches can be resolved through face-to-face negotiations ``as it was in Derry earlier this year''.
Speaking at a meeting of the Sinn Fein Ard Chomhairle in Dublin, Mr McLaughlin added:
``The decision of the Orange Order's supreme ruling body not to talk even to the Parades Commission gives some indication of the difficulties faced by people trying to resolve this issue.''
