Louth councillor says tonight's Sellafield `dirty tricks' TV revelations add to secret internal report to BNFL chief he holds

Louth County Councillor Arthur Morgan said that tonight's TV revelations of a ``dirty tricks'' operation by British Nuclear Fuels against Dáil critics ``adds to the evidence of a propaganda drive flagged in a secret Sellafield public relations document I obtained during a fact-finding visit to Cumbria three weeks ago''.

Tonight's Channel 4 `Dispatches' programme (`The Nuclear Files') reveals that a written request for information from Independent TD Mildred Fox to the British Government was given to BNFL. Councillor Morgan said:

``The Channel 4 revelations will clearly show that BNFL and the British Government are working hand in glove and are more interested in propaganda than honest answers about people's safety.

``BNFL has been exposed practically every week in the recent past of falsifying safety and quality records, mismanagement, negligence and corporate cover-up. The time has long past for Taoiseach Bertie Ahern, Energy Minister Joe Jacobs and TDs from all parties to get tough with BNFL who are treating them like fools.''
