    Health

  1. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis calls on the Minister for Health to act on the health sector crisis. As well as having 34,000 on hospital waiting lists, the waiting lists for coronary bypass surgery and hip replacements are among the longest in Europe. Twenty-six-County patients are far less likely to receive kidney dialysis than citizens of most other developed states. We also have the lowest number of specialists per head of population than any other developed state.

The Dublin government must act decisively to ensure that waiting lists are reduced, bed numbers increased and waiting times in hospitals are slashed.

Most importantly the department must adhere to the simple principle that everyone has a right to an adequate health service provision regardless of where they come from and or what their income is.

  2. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis believes that all school-age children (up to age 16) be entitled to free medical care.

    Cumann Kevin Delaney, Bré

  3. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis calls on the government to remove the two-tier system in relation to the provision of health services and eliminate the hospital waiting lists.

    Cumann O'Malley/Russell, Baile Átha Cliath

  4. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis calls on both health services on both sides of the border to fully co-operate with all forms of medical emergencies that would occur in all border areas. That the Ard Fheis proposes for instance that: ambulance, hospital care, house calls by doctors particularly after hours and that all emergencies automatically be dealt with by the nearest health service available.
