    Towards a Lasting Peace

    (Sunday 1.45/3.45)

At the Centre of Irish Politics

  1. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis calls upon the Irish Government and the SDLP to join with Sinn Fein in the building of a genuine Irish nationalist consensus which places Irish unity at the top of the agenda and which recognises it as being a realistic and attainable objective rather than reducing it to a mere aspiration.

    Cumann Bun na bhFál, Belfast

  2. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis salutes the courage shown by Oglaigh na hÉireann in creating a new opportunity for a new and lasting peace settlement in Ireland by declaring a cessation last July. That we also congratulate the leadership of Sinn Fein for their handling of our involvement in the process and call on all those involved in this process to demonstrate the same courage.

    Noble Six/Coen/MacManus Cumann, Sligo

  3. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

We propose that this Ard Fheis endorse the leadership of Sinn Fein at this complex time when people would find it easy to be critical of them.

We also propose that this Ard Fheis commends the work done on the generation of the Sinn Fein youth movement.

    McBrearty Maguire, Donegal

  4. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

This Ard Fheis upholds the right of the Irish people in the Six Counties to play a full and active part in the life of the Irish nation. We oppose any attempts to remove or adjust Articles 2 and 3 on the basis that their deletion would diminish the rights of nationalists in the Six Counties and enshrine the Unionist veto in an amended constitution.

    Belfast Comhairle Limistéir

  5. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fheis opposes the concept of Unionist consent as undemocratic and a barrier to peace and genuine reconciliation. Consent is a two way process and if consent is a principle it must apply equally to northern nationalists who do not enjoy a protection of their rights either through consent, veto, triple lock or constitutional guarantees.

    Belfast Comhairle Limistéir

  6. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That the Ard Fheis reaffirms the Sinn Fein commitment to a democratic, socialist, 32 county republic and a complete British withdrawal from same.

    Ceannt Breathnach, Gaillimh

  7. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That under no circumstances should Sinn Fein take part in any new British institution such as an Assembly in the Six Counties.

Cumann McElchar/McCaffrey., Co. Dhún na nGall

  8. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fhéis reaffirm the republican position as established in the Declaration of Independence 1919 and that no member of Sinn Fein takes part in any process which dilutes that position:

    Billy Reid Cumann, Omagh

  9. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

That this Ard Fhéis reaffirms its total support for the Declaration of Independence as declared by Dáil Éireann on 21st January 1919, and that the sovereignty of Ireland is undefeasable and that no person or persons or section of the people have the authority to dilute or usurp or renegotiate that sovereign position and that this Ard Fhéis reject the affirmation of the Mitchell document as this document usurps both the sovereignty of Ireland and the constitution of Sinn Fein

    Boland Hughes Cumann Dublin North

  10. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

Sinn Fein reaffirms the following statement of PH Pearse, and asserts that his words continue to determine the admissible parameters of a political settlement on this island:

`I make the contention that the national demand of Ireland is fixed and determined; that the demand has been made by every generation; that we are bound by it; that we have not the right to alter it or to abate it by one jot or tittle; and that any undertaking made in the name of Ireland to accept in full satisfaction of Ireland's claim anything less than the generations of Ireland have stood for is null and void... the man who in the name of Ireland accepts as a `final settlement' anything less than by one fraction of an iota than separation from England will be repudiated by the new generation as surely as O'Connell was repudiated by the generation that came after him'.

    Barney Boswell Cumann Newington Belfast

  11. Support the motion   Oppose the motion

Sinn Fein spokespeople should, when speaking to the media refer to loyalist paramilitary groups such as UFF, UVF, LVF or UDA as Unionist paramilitaries.

    Cavan Comhairle Ceantair
